Law and Legislation Vs Ethic and Moral

In today’s life very often we may catch ourselves on a thought that legal matters are usually very expensive, unpredictable and confusing. Legal system doesn't establish or execute Justice – it is subjective and depends on many factors. Some of them are: current geopolitical situation, location, nationality, social position, weather conditions, emotions etc. Therefore legal system is guided by the communal utilitarianism principle. Decisions based on that principle could go very often perpendicular with the perception of justice of individuals or even peoples. There is an opinion that justice and legal system is based on ethic and moral. This is a chicken and egg challenge to prove. All of it is basically rules of communal living and transactions among humans who inhabit certain area, i.e. a suburb, a town, a state, a country. So the law and legislation is an attempt to codify the rules of mutual existence for further enforcement and ease of transactions. Ethic is almost the...

About entrepreneurs

Don't know exactly why, but when someone introduces himself or herself to me as "aspiring social entrepreneur" my first opinion - this person is just useless in terms of doing any real business together. Of course this perception may not be correct in some cases. I think that's because of several factors: 1. When someone says "I work in engineering (construction, law, education, government, marketing, IT, farming, manufacturing, dosomethingreal)" you can say that at least you see what skills and subject area knowledge you could leverage as a team to build something or to work on some initiative or project. It also shows credibility of the person, because it at least gives us an idea of what we could do exactly together as a team. Of course other wonderful skills and capabilities may be uncovered during the collaboration, but if initially there is a team of only people who call themselves "entrepreneurs" - nothing is going to work and we w...

Shrek the Halls

Social statuses

We have recently had a conversation with some colleagues about luxury cars, club memberships that cost several thousand dollars, luxury clothing brands - in the end it came up to a statement that it all just to show others your status in the society. The strange thing though is that everyone I talked to agreed that in Australia today the social status is just nonsense. People who pretend they have high status are considered in general as wankers. Who cares what car I am driving? In Australia anyone can buy virtually any car that she/he likes, any brand of clothes, go to any level restaurant at least once a month and live in any suburb of any city without any problems. What status we are talking about here? How that social status is going to help anyone? I understand that ages ago higher social status gave people some privileges. What sort of privilege people are seeking today? People have got some hierarchies at workplace, but this not the status thing, but business roles. On ...
